I began following the accomplishments of Manika Ward in 2009 and her achievements just keep coming.

In my December 7, 2009 column, I spotlighted the fifteen year-old because she had written a book, “The Exciting Adventures of Boo,” in the hope of raising $15,000 to donate to the NSPCA. I was impressed and wanted to help her bring attention to it. It takes a special kid to set a goal like that, see it through and find a way to help animals.
